A Day in a Church at Urquhart

There is a lovely old church at Urquhart, just away from the town, set in fields, that has been converted to a B&B.

It would normally please me, but this time it was a little sad that it was no longer a place of worship, and that it did not work as a B&B either. It was neither one thing nor the other.
The building and grounds were peaceful and beautiful.
The owners, Andreas and Kris, were very professional, but we were not at ease. The place is a little awkward, not one thing, not another.

We walked around the gardens and enjoyed the flowers and trees, the little pond and the fields. The weather was beautiful and we had plenty of time to relax in the cavernous, cool, dim lounge room.

Urquhart is in the middle of whiskey country, although any little town here is in the middle of whisky country. There is Glenfiddich down the road and any number of other famous names, all signposted.
