Day 2 of our Tour of Taiwan

a misty warm morning
the view from our window
 ancient symmetry
beautiful lines
 stone dances and twirls
to an old tune
delicate touches to the most mundane
so lovingly carved
 the dragon guards and welcomes
and dances
clutching cloud and wave
the Chinese flavour
 no space untouched
with colour and curve
 an inlay
rustic and real
 a round
a hexagon
an arch
and on...
 the carp and tortoise
and old time orderly
 to stretch and bask
display the stripy colours
 an echoed trend to detail
intricate carving on door and lintel
 the back of door
 dragons on roof lines
 watch ghost paper rise
money for ghostly traders
the trunk follows patterns and weaves and wanders
... touch breast lane...
 a happy chance
granny at work
making horns
piece by piece the same
a thousand a day
every day
 in sandals
and minding bubby
we watched
were interested...
they polished a piece to give us
we left a gift for bubby
...precious...
 winds blow
small winding streets protect
 some dwellings abandoned
 the ancient pump
 the dragon dance
 walk on fire cracker confetti
 and offer
 dragons watch on high

 and bamboo weaves above ...
the rich family shared their well

our guide shared his time and knowledge
a famous cafe
renowned meat bun
well known in Taiwan
local fare
would we dare?
 oh yes!!
delicious and better with chilli sauce
 Buddha
with windows in the back
and stories inside
and a view in front
the dead man with empty eyes
looks at the cross
 the tropics - cancer here
on this line
moving slightly
 crafted trees
 crafted trees
 cypress
hundreds of years old
on mountains high
fragrant
plundered by the northern neighbours
when they came
they took her husband to fight for them
so she planted a tree
and waited for him....
