Shirakawago

An hour or so away from Kanazawa is a traditional village called Shirakawaga.
It is in the mountains and the remnants of snow can be seen.
 Some of it quite thick.
The town is surrounded by high mountains.
A school is perched on a hill and the children are singing.
A viewing point is a short walk from where we are staying.

Some blossoms are starting to make an appearance.
 Last year's cabbage.

 Rice fields or vegetable fields.
The tradition houses are called gassho style.
They have grass roofs - very thick.
This is the house we are staying in.

We are having a traditional meal cooked on the floor tonight.

 A forest path.
Traditional meal - cooked over a fire in the middle of the floor.
