Tallinn - Estonia

Estonia was clear and clean. The countryside was pretty and well tended.
The town had a market square, an old centre, with history and scars to prove it.
Two old towers that have stood for hundreds of years remain, with parts of the old wall with internal stairs and a magnificent view from the walkway along the top.
The new and modern shopping areas had banks and every type of shop that any capital city has. The malls are superb.
The people are dressed casually and are happy to be out and catching the sun after a long winter so far north. Women and children sell flowers, waiting patiently for customers. Buskers liven up the scene in costume and with energetic playing.
A walk through the park raises our eyebrows. The trees and seats are wrapped in knitted blankets and scarves. It is to honour some event or people but we are not sure what. Tags are sewn onto the scarves. A band plays. A dark past is covered, thinly.
