Korea 2016

Korea is a very special place.
It is where my first born lives.
He is precious, his wife is precious and our time together is cherished.

Korea feels like home when I visit.
The airport a familiar foyer, the trip to Deagu the way home, and the city mainly unchanged.

Other cultures and their ways can be so fearsome. Not understanding the language, customs, dress, signs, faces, food. We shun that which we do not understand. Kill them! Hate them! Be afraid!
Of course that is not what we do.....but it is under our ignorance, seething and writhing like a serpent.

When I first went to Korea in 1991, I had the chance to open my eyes and heart to something different, and they were filled with love and joy. The beautiful people and wonderful experiences. The body mode more whole. You realise that people are people are people everywhere. Good ones, bad ones, in between ones. Mothers and sisters and cousins and cute kids and sick and suffering ones. Some are trustworthy, others not - just like here. They are just like us. With all our faults and foibles and quirky bits.

It will be great to see Alex and Seung Hwa and Narae again, in their spring, with the cherry blossoms and greening hills.

We go armed with Tim Tams, butter and Blue Tac, wide open arms, wide open eyes.
Let the games begin!
